Regarding the denting of the hull. Being the nature of polyethylene kayaks is that they are a soft plastic and malleable.
The good news though is that it can be fixed quite easily.
To remove a dent, set the boat in the direct hot sun for a couple of hours with the dented area exposed. When the hull heats up, it usually reforms itself, because the kayak has a 'memory' shape.
To help it return to it's shape, when it's heated you can slightly bend it back in position and put some weights on it, so it stays like that till the hull has cooled down (possibly use a hairdryer to heat the area if no sun).
Another solution is to get a material like a foam support in the deformed area and put in under the sun to help it go back in shape. I've attached a video on how this is done.
Please let me know how you go.
